Sometime in 2013 and 2014 I will create a week-long performance installation: Doings and Undoings:
The seven-day piece begins with a tableaux that includes the two lead performance artists who avoid loss and inevitably confront loss, through the tearing and manipulating of a 1,000-foot-long roll of paper. This paper will serve as a central prop and source of continuity in the week’s completely non-verbal event. The artists will undo the entire roll, while being present in movement, sound and silence. They will also witness the goings on by drawing and painting on a large canvas visible to the audience.
This continues an exploration that Lisa Hochstein and myself created at the Santa Cruz Museum of Art and History, MAH, I painted the movement of museum goers and Lisa Hochstein tearing paper. Lisa Hochstein had her collages "Undoings" on the third floor. I was at times a movement docent offering museum goers a movement meditation in which people absorbed Lisa's collages into their bodies.
